About
After relocating to Colorado 1994, Joel became more involved with disabled sports and recreation by sharing his knowledge of paddle sports, water-skiing, sailing, skiing, and adventure as a volunteer instructor for adaptive programs around Colorado. Most notably, his passion for working with the disabled community resulted in 10 years as a volunteer ski and sailing instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled, and a subsequent certification as a PSIA certified adaptive ski instructor. Berman's combination of business experience and personal experience, led to the creation of Adaptive Adventures in 1999.
Joel is a PSIA Certified Ski-Instructor and is a former board member of DSUSA and US Handcycling Board of Directors, with over 10 years of specialty training in cycling, kayaking, sailing, and water-skiing. Joel has attended 4 USOC Leadership Conferences. In 2012, Joel was selected as a recipient of the White House Champions of Change Award.
