Role / Project description: [MARTIN AT AGE 16 - 20] Male. White. Upon becoming conscious again at 16, Martin has no memory of who or where he is. Trapped in a barely responsive body, his family and caretakers assume he has the mind of an infant but he’s fully conscious and aware of his surroundings. His struggle to break from isolation to connection is the heart of the film. Once he succeeds, the hard part of living a life begins. Submission instructions: We are pleased to invite you to audition for this documentary. As we are not holding in-person auditions. We do not expect actors to pay for professional taping please feel free to send a phone video. We prefer these to be taped in the safety of the actor’s home or whichever location they feel most comfortable in. A full script is not available.. GHOST BOY is the story of Martin Pistorius journey from isolation to connection. As a boy, he fell into a coma, and when he woke up a few years later he could barely control his body even though he was fully aware. It took him almost a decade to break through to the world around him and that odyssey makes up the greater part of our project.
